Ingredients

For the chocolate peanut butter sauce
  • 1 can (16 ounce) chocolate syrup
  • ¾ cup peanut butter Use smooth peanut butter for best results.
For the dessert layers
  • 19 pieces ice cream sandwiches Use quality ice cream sandwiches for better taste.
  • 1 container (12 ounce) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup salted peanuts Can substitute with other nuts or chocolate chips.

Method

Prepare the Sauce
  1. Pour the chocolate syrup into a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for about 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
  2. Stir in the peanut butter until smooth and glossy. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Assemble the Dessert
  1. Line the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish with a layer of ice cream sandwiches, using about 9-10 sandwiches.
  2. Spread half of the thawed whipped topping evenly over the ice cream sandwich layer.
  3. Drizzle half of the cooled chocolate peanut butter mixture over the whipped topping layer.
  4. Sprinkle half of the salted peanuts over the chocolate layer.
  5. Repeat the layers with another layer of ice cream sandwiches, the remaining whipped topping, the rest of the chocolate sauce, and remaining peanuts.
Freeze and Serve
  1. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and freeze until completely firm, at least 1 hour, preferably 2-3 hours.
  2. Before serving, let the dessert sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes for easier cutting, then cut into 12 equal squares and serve.

Notes

This dessert can be made in advance and stored in the freezer for up to two weeks. The layers meld together beautifully, enhancing the flavor.
